Literary youth

So, people say to me, Noel, you gotta check out these boys on YouTube. They're these clever, young Asian guys named KevJumba and Nigahiga. They tell interesting stories and have a unique point of view. Apparently, they're "stars" on YouTube because they have thousands and thousands of subscibers who watch their videos. I took a look. I was stymied. They are nothing but these obnoxious teenagers who spend way too much time alone in their rooms.

I was quite irked by them actually. It was an annoying feeling deep down in my bones. I couldn't fathon why I had such a severe allergic reaction to them. Then I realised: OMG! I WAS THAT OBNOXIOUS TEENAGER WHO SPENT WAY TOO MUCH TIME IN HIS ROOM.

In some way, it was like watching my former self. I should e-mail those guys and tell them if they're not careful, they'll end up an obnoxious man who spends way too much time alone in his apartment.

I thought they were pretty funny! This is the first time I saw them and it reminded me how lacking I am in the video editing department! :)

You are so funny. I am having a nice little giggle with you this morning.

I also feel a little grateful that I was unable to post any videos of my teen self, which probably would have run the gamut from thinking I was more clever than I was to thinking I was deeper than I was. Thanks for the grins.

Hi JC and Sundry, it's interesting seeing this video. I mean, these guys have it in them to become writers, maybe even novelists. They have the ingredients: they talk to themselves, make up imaginary people, and get a kick out of being alone.

So... The question is: Do all great YouTubers becomes great authors? And how does one define greatness? Popularity in our present society? Argh! Too many questions! I'll stick with writing: the second most productive time you can spend with yourself ;-)

Ha ha! I had randomly stumbled upon Nigahaga on Youtube and thought he was very funny!

It never crossed my mind to forward the link to you, though (I passed it on to Mr. Gomolvilas, since it seemed immature and lowbrow enough for him).

I have to say, I dig these Asian tweakers. Especially the first one.
Editing is amazing.
One thing that is eternal...boys always act kind of stupid.

Ur, what is the first productive time you can spend with yourself?

The difference between Prince and I is this: he is unwilling to leave his teenage years. That's why he is fixated on boy bands.

Yeah, that's one of the things to consider when becoming a parent--having to endure those dumb years before adulthood.
